How can we teach kids to value others? The Bible says much about the value of all people, avoiding prejudice, and loving others. We’re given the reason why in the very first chapter when Genesis 1:27 says, “So God created mankind in His own image…” Just by being human we’re all automatically made in God’s image—a living testament to the value of all people when the Creator of the universe is reflected in us!
Additionally, God tells us to respect, care for, and view each other like He does: with infinite love and patience. This is why teaching kids the value of all people can often involve also teaching forgiveness for kids or how to not take part in prejudice. Obstacles to seeing or loving others as God does might include:
- Prejudice for their social or economic status
- Looking down on their appearance
- Disapproval of their behavior
- Our own pride
Here’s how to teach kids about loving others, avoiding prejudice, and the value of all people…
